Best subscription tracker apps for iPhone (2026)
We make one of these apps. Outflow is ours, and we have put it in the table with everything else rather than pretending to be neutral. Every fact below is dated and comes from a source you can check yourself — the App Store listing, or the app's own description. Where another app is the better answer, this page says so, because a comparison that always ends in the author's favour is worth nothing to you and, frankly, fools nobody.
There are dozens of subscription trackers on the App Store and most comparisons of them are written by the people who make one. This one is too. So instead of a made-up score out of ten, here is the decision that actually sorts the field, and then the facts.
The one question that decides it
Will you connect your bank account? Everything else follows from that.
- Yes. A bank feed is the only way an app can see every charge without you typing anything, and it is genuinely good at it. You accept that your transaction history sits with a data aggregator and the app maker, and that the app is a monthly subscription itself.
- No. You keep your banking credentials and your spending history to yourself, and you accept that finding forgotten charges takes a little work — a statement to scan, or a guided check of the places subscriptions hide.
Neither answer is wrong. They are different trades, and an app that suits one suits the other badly.
Pick by what you need
If you will connect your bank — US
Rocket Money
The most complete automatic option: it reads your accounts, spots recurring charges, and will negotiate bills and cancel things for you. It is free to download with a paid Premium tier, and it is a subscription. If automatic discovery matters more to you than data minimisation, this is the honest recommendation, and it is not close.
If you will connect your bank — UK
Emma, or Snoop
Both are UK open-banking apps with subscription detection built into a wider budgeting product, free to download with paid tiers. Pick these over a US-first app if you want your own bank supported properly.
If you want a simple private list, free
Bobby
The app that proved a tracker does not need your bank: a clean list, local data, a reminder before each bill, a large built-in service library, and a one-time unlock rather than a subscription. Worth knowing before you choose it: its last App Store update was December 2025, and it will not help you find a subscription you have forgotten — you type in what you already know about.
If you like importing from screenshots
Orbit
Apple has featured it, and its pitch is import: screenshots, CSVs and bank statements, without a bank connection. If your subscriptions are easiest to gather as pictures, it is the neatest route.
If you mainly want to cancel things
SubPilot
Cancellation-led rather than tracking-led, with a large user base. Worth a look if your problem is the stopping, not the knowing.
If you want discovery without a bank login — ours
Outflow
Built for the trade most privacy-first trackers refuse to make: finding what you have forgotten without a bank connection. It scans a statement you paste or photograph, entirely on device; on iPhones where Apple supports it, it reads transactions Apple already holds through FinanceKit — no credentials, no aggregator; and it walks you through the four places subscriptions hide (Apple Account, Google Play, PayPal, your card). It also splits household bills, tracks money coming in, and shows what you have actually spent, cancelled subscriptions included. Free for five; Pro is $4.99 once, never a subscription.
The facts, side by side
| App | Finds subscriptions by | Bank login | Price model | Last App Store update |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Outflow 💧 | Statement scan, FinanceKit, guided audit | Never | Free to 5 · $4.99 once | 14 Sep 2026 |
| Rocket Money | Bank connection | Required | Free · paid Premium subscription | 22 Sep 2026 |
| Bobby | Manual entry | Not required | Free · one-time unlock | 9 Dec 2025 |
| Orbit | Screenshots, CSVs, statements | Not required | Free · paid tier | 18 Aug 2026 |
| SubPilot | Manual entry, cancellation-led | Not required | Free · paid tier | 18 Sep 2026 |
| Emma | Bank connection (open banking) | Required | Free · Plus / Pro / Ultimate | 15 Sep 2026 |
| Snoop | Bank connection (open banking) | Required | Free · paid tier | 3 Sep 2026 |
Update dates, and the capability descriptions, are from each app's own App Store listing, checked on 23 September 2026 (US store). Prices change and vary by country: check the listing before you buy. Bobby's one-time unlock was around $1.99 when the 2026 round-ups last quoted it. Rocket Money does not publish a public pricing page, so its Premium price is shown in the app. All names are trademarks of their owners; no affiliation is implied.
What none of them does well
Discovery. It is the reason people install a tracker, and it is the thing the whole category is worst at. LowerMySubs tested eight apps against 14 real subscriptions in 2026: Monarch missed 12, Bobby 6, Trim 5, Rocket Money 4, Simplifi 3, Subby 3. The best score in that test was a bank-connected app missing four in fourteen.
The reason is the same everywhere: a card statement shows a descriptor, not a service. "SP * NAME", "APPLE.COM/BILL", a payment processor's name, a company you have never heard of that owns the brand you subscribed to. A bank feed sees more transactions than you would type, but it does not understand them any better than you do.
So whatever you install, check the four places directly at least once: your Apple Account subscriptions, Google Play, PayPal automatic payments, and a statement read line by line. Outflow walks you through exactly that, but you can do it by hand this afternoon and every app on this page will be more accurate afterwards.
Try it before you install anything
We built a free Subscription Finder that runs in your browser — paste or upload a statement and it finds the repeating charges, tells you what they cost a year, flags price rises, and links to where each one is cancelled. No account, no upload: the file never leaves your browser. It uses the same detection rules as the app, so it is also the fairest way to judge whether our approach works for you before you download anything.
Questions people ask
Is a subscription tracker that charges a subscription a joke?
Not necessarily — bank connections cost the maker money every month, so a recurring price is at least coherent. It is worth knowing which you are buying: Bobby and Outflow are one-time purchases; Rocket Money, Emma and Snoop are subscriptions.
Can any app cancel a subscription for me?
Rocket Money offers concierge cancellation. Most others, ours included, take you to the right place and tell you what to do — and any app that claims your bank can cancel an agreement is misleading you: stopping a payment does not end a contract, and you can still be billed for what you owe.
What about Android?
Rocket Money, Emma and Snoop are cross-platform. Bobby, Orbit, SubPilot and Outflow are Apple-only.
